Why SCUBA dive?

SCUBA diving is an exciting sport that puts you into an entirely new world. SCUBA allows someone to stay underwater for extended periods of time so they may see and explore. A lot like snorkling- SCUBA diving is a unique activity that is a wonderful alternative to another day of lying on the beach.

What is a SCUBA certification?

A SCUBA certification is a liscence to SCUBA dive. A certification class will teach you (through both classroom and hands on education) how to properly and safely SCUBA dive in most enviornments. Once certified, you will be albe to legally and safely SCUBA dive at locations all over the world.

Does the SCUBA Club offer SCUBA certifications?

YES. The Buckeye SCUBA Club currently runs one certification class each quarter throughout the OSU school year. The class is held one night each week for the last seven weeks of the quarter. Best of all, the class is conviently held in Larkins Hall- ON CAMPUS.

The club is located in Ohio... where do you SCUBA dive?

Everywhere. Ohio is filled with flooded limestone quarries which our club members visit regularly. These locations offer diving opprotunities for the weekend, and allow members to keep up with their SCUBA diving skills.

For those who don't like to dive in Ohio, our club schedules trips over every major OSU school break. These trips allow members to use their diving skills in new diving conditions outside of ohio.

How long does a SCUBA certification last?

For life. Once certified, you can dive for the rest of your life.

Are there any hidden costs in your certification price?

Not really. The only other costs a student must cover for certification are: club dues ($20), open water checkout admissions ($20), and open-water checkout air fills ($6 per fill).

How do I join?

Check out our Become a Member section.

Do you offer any SCUBA certifications besides Open Water?

Yes. Our head coach Andy Silverman is qualified to certify everything from open water to intructor. If you are an experienced diver and would like something more than your open water certification- we offer just about every certification you can imagine.

Does the club take trips?

Yes. Besides diving on the weekends throughout Ohio- our club takes a trip outside Ohio every chance we get. In our first year our members have traveled to such dive destinations as Blue Grotto, Ginnie Springs, Vortex Springs, Rainbow River, and Crystal River. Because most of our members are in a pinch for cash- we always keep these trips as cheap as possible.

When and where are club meetings held?

For Spring quarter 2005, the club meets every Tuesday night at Applebees on Olentangy. We meet at about 10:00PM so we can catch happy hour.
